About
An Electrician by trade, Cory Joseph was hit hard by the economic crash of 2006/2007. His small, but growing electrical business began to slow almost to a stop. A guitar player in and out of bands since the age of 12, and a local singer/songwriter since 21, he was forced into finding a way to make his full time living from music. A blessing in disguise, that would develop Joseph’s craft even deeper.
A contracted “side-man” (guitar player/back up vocals) for local and touring artists, indie as well as major label, he began paying his dues in clubs and venues around the country while still maintaining a small business doing electrical work. Carrying around a 25 pound tool belt during the day has it’s advantages, though. Joseph’s work ethic has always been strong and uniquely focused for a musician.
But when the electrical work stopped coming, it was a natural progression into booking more paying solo gigs around town as well as playing guitar for more artists, which would support his first two solo records. Based in acoustic music and blues, the two EPs then served as a spring board into touring solo up the west coast a number of times throughout ‘08-’10.
Cory has also been fronting a rock trio called SLEEPLESS ME, since 2006. The band has out out two E.P.’s, (both on iTunes) done 4 US tours, & won an Orange County Music award for “Best Alternative Band_2007″
Still continuing to perform and record for other artists, as well as SLEEPLESS ME, & his local blues band LONG BEACH BLUES ARMY, Cory’s main musical focus is towards his solo work. Writing, producing, singing, & playing various instruments is a constant.
In the studio or out performing 2-7 nights a week,
Long Beach California based Cory Joseph, is becoming one of SoCal’s strongest homegrown artists.
